Milo Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a legally binding agreement between you ("you" or "User") and Lythe Pte. Ltd. ("Lythe", "we", "us", or "our"). They govern your access to and use of Milo, a research product and conversational matchmaker made by Lythe, including our Telegram bot, websites and any related features (collectively, the "Services").

By accessing or using the Services (such as messaging Milo through a Messaging Platform, updating your match card or joining a group chat), you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

1. WHAT DO THESE TERMS APPLY TO?

  • message or interact with Milo via a Messaging Platform (such as Telegram or any chat platform that we support);
  • create, update or delete your Milo match card or profile;
  • receive match suggestions or recommendations and consent to introductions to other users;
  • join a group chat or conversation initiated by Milo to connect you with others;
  • visit our websites, forms or landing pages relating to Milo; or
  • communicate with us for support, feedback or operational reasons.

2. KEY DEFINITIONS

"Milo" refers to Lythe's student-oriented AI matchmaker and conversational bot that helps students find friends, collaborators, teams, study partners and introductions through Messaging Platforms.

"Services" refers to Milo's platform and related features, including the Telegram bot, any websites or forms we operate and the systems that power matching and introductions.

"Match Card" or "User Profile" refers to the information you provide during onboarding or through subsequent interactions, such as your school, course, interests, availability, collaboration style, goals and any other data you choose to share for matching.

"Messaging Platform" refers to any third-party messaging service or chat platform used to communicate with Milo (e.g., Telegram or similar platforms).

"Content" refers to any text, messages, audio, images, files, prompts, instructions or other materials submitted through the Services.

Capitalised terms not defined here may be defined in our Privacy Policy.

3. ELIGIBILITY

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Services. If you are under the age required to provide valid consent in your jurisdiction, you may only use the Services with appropriate permission from a parent or guardian. By using the Services, you represent that you meet these requirements and that the information you provide is accurate and lawful.

4. PRIVACY

Our Milo Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, store, transfer and protect personal data in connection with the Services. By using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understand the Milo Privacy Policy.

5. USE OF AI AND MATCHING FEATURES

Milo uses automated and AI-enabled systems to interpret your messages, understand your preferences, maintain context and generate match suggestions and introductions. AI outputs and matches may be inaccurate, incomplete or unsuitable. You agree to verify important details before acting and to exercise caution and judgement in deciding whether to connect with another user. Do not rely on AI outputs as professional, medical, legal, safety or financial advice. Milo is not responsible for decisions you make based on AI recommendations.

6. ACCOUNTS AND COMMUNICATIONS

You agree to provide accurate and up-to-date information when creating or updating your match card or profile (e.g., your Telegram handle, availability, interests and preferences) and to keep it updated. You are responsible for safeguarding your messaging account and ensuring that only you or authorised persons interact with Milo on your behalf.

By using the Services, you consent to receiving service-related communications (such as match suggestions, confirmations, reminders, safety notices or policy updates) through the Messaging Platform or other channels you provide. If you tell Milo that you do not want to receive non-essential messages, we will take reasonable steps to stop sending such messages. Some communications may still be required for security, legal compliance or to complete a requested introduction.

7. ACCEPTABLE USE

You agree not to use the Services to:

  • violate any applicable law, regulation or third-party rights;
  • request, promote or coordinate illegal or unsafe activities;
  • harass, threaten, discriminate, bully or abuse others;
  • impersonate any person, misrepresent your identity or create fake profiles;
  • share personal data or private information of others without their permission;
  • spam, send unsolicited bulk communications or otherwise misuse the Services;
  • attempt to bypass safety checks, rate limits or platform controls;
  • upload, transmit or share malware or attempt unauthorised access to or interference with any system;
  • misrepresent AI outputs or introductions as human decisions for deception or fraud;
  • generate or distribute content that is defamatory, hateful, obscene or otherwise violates applicable laws or regulations;
  • use Milo as a dating service or for matchmaking purposes that are sexual in nature.

We may remove content, limit distribution, or suspend or terminate access for violations.

8. USE OF THE SERVICES

Milo provides a conversational interface to help students connect with peers for friendship, collaboration and campus life. We do not control how users utilise match suggestions or introductions and do not take responsibility for any actions taken based on those suggestions or introductions. Milo is not a dating service, employment agency or professional advisor and does not guarantee that you will be matched with any particular type of person. You are solely responsible for your interactions with other users and for any outcomes of those interactions. Always exercise caution and common sense when meeting or interacting with others, including following campus safety guidelines.

9. CONTENT YOU SUBMIT

You retain ownership of the messages, profile information and other Content you submit through the Services. By submitting Content, you grant Lythe a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, modify (for formatting and processing), process and display your Content solely to operate, maintain and improve the Services (including training and refining matching algorithms) in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

You represent that you have the rights needed to provide the Content and that it is lawful, accurate and not misleading. You must ensure your Content complies with these Terms and our Acceptable Use policy.

10. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

The Services and all related intellectual property, including the Milo bot, matching workflows, branding and underlying software, are owned by Lythe or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer or exploit the Services except as permitted by law or with our written permission.

11. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

The Services rely on third-party providers, including Messaging Platforms and cloud hosting, analytics and AI processing services. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and policies. Lythe is not responsible for third-party services or their terms.

12. SUSPENSION AND TERMINATION

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services if we reasonably believe you:

  • violated these Terms;
  • created risk or possible legal exposure;
  • engaged in fraud, abuse or harassment;
  • repeatedly disrupted the community or our systems.

You may stop using the Services at any time.

13. DISCLAIMERS

The Services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lythe disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including any warranties of fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Lythe does not guarantee that the Services will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free, that matches or introductions will meet your expectations, or that any AI outputs will be accurate or reliable.

14. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lythe will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or other intangible losses arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Services. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lythe's total liability for any claim relating to the Services will not exceed the greater of:

  • S$100; or
  • the amount you paid Lythe (if any) in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in that case, the limitation applies to the maximum extent permitted.

15. INDEMNITY

You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Lythe and its directors, officers, employees and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of:

  • your use of the Services;
  • your Content;
  • your interactions or introductions through Milo;
  • your violation of these Terms; or
  • your violation of any rights of another person or entity.

16. GOVERNING LAW

These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore, unless Lythe specifies an alternative dispute resolution process in writing.

17. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted with a revised "Last Updated" date. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify you through the Services.
